Management of non-SolidWorks documents
DBWorks can manage any type of document and associate it with any other. Your technical notes can accompany the documents and evolve with them while keeping a version of all validated documents. Associate to each document or note richer information contained in an Excel sheet, a high quality image of the product or HTML documentation. Projects can contain tree structures of generic documents and DBWorks lets you open the documents starting from its interface or view them while looking for a document in order to identify it. DBWorks offers previewing capabilities for the most common documents, including Autocad documents, for which DBWorks contains an integrated viewer. |

Remote collaboration via Internet
DBWorks can share the database as well as the documents with remote installations. What is significant is that it there needs to be no replication of the database, therefore the access is always in real time from anywhere and the consistency and uniformity of information is always guaranteed. For each document DBWorks manages the compression and the downloading of the files to update remotely and introduced the concept of property of the document so that it is not possible to modify a document which belongs to another subsidiary. This mechanism adapts very well to the management of the subcontractors who, if endowed with a sufficiently fast Internet connection, will be able to collaborate as if they were on the spot. The same mechanism can be also used in a network LAN to exploit the principle of property among departments of the same company. |

Creation of documentation in HTML format
Create a full documentation about your project with only one click. Documentation, in HTML format is ready for being published on your Intranet or put on CD to be distributed to your customers. The documentation simulates a Internet site with a page with an active tree working as an index and one page for each component. Documentation can be generated both from an assembly, project or drawing downwards or from a part upwards. The pages can be browsed hierarchically like a true Web site and the information displayed can be customized to include any field, also the custom fields you added. |

Integration with other database
DBWorks was conceived as an open system: you can retrieve information from any other ODBC database in the network and make it available for:
Guided tools help you to associate the values of the existing fields with the values in other databases with dynamic searches, therefore always up to date. Also, DBWorks exposes its data for any other database access for reading and is provided with many examples of queries that can be used to have access to information starting from any other software or Windows database. |

Creation of personalized Bill Of Materials
DBWorks can create automatically bill of materials in Microsoft Excel . The BOMs fill themselves automatically and can carry out calculations on any numerical field. DBWorks can manage the addition of virtual components or define components as bought (children are not included) or hidden for BOMs. As for the SolidWorks BOMs, you can modify it to add any field in the database, including the custom fields which you defined in your company. You can choose from existing templates or create your own: a wizard will help you in selecting, adding or creating features to best fit your BOM appearance. |
