Bosch Packaging Technology , a division of Robert Bosch GmbH,has selected DBWorks as its Product Document Management (PDM) solution. DBWorks will be managing 174 seats of SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software installed in Bosch Packaging Technology locations in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and USA.

Bosch Packaging's choice of DBWorks followed a lengthy selection process on such criteria as compatibility with user requirements, need for customization, cost, performance on management of large assemblies, quality of the reference sites,management of standard parts.

One fundamental issue was the support for offline data-exchange with external contractors. By using DBWorks, Bosch Packaging will be able to access and manage its product data more effectively, facilitate the re-use of designs and drawings, establish a central database location for all product data within the engineering department, standardize it's coding practices, link DBWorks data to/from current ERP system, replace its current document control system, and ultimately capitalize on engineering savings time. These benefits are further expected to have positive impact upon product quality and reliability. MechWorks will assist directly Bosch Packaging in the implementation phase while SolidLine AG, the largest DBWorks and SolidWorks reseller in Germany, will handle post-rollout support and maintenance.
